Sam Smith's debut album, "In The Lonely Hour" has scored more than a million sales in both the UK and the US during 2014. This was confirmed by Nielsen Music. The album had sold 1.007 million copies based on Official Charts data.

This year, Sam Smith is only the second artist to sell a million albums in the UK. The first was Ed Sheeran’s X, which hit the milestone last month; while in the US, only Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and the Frozen OST have sold more than a million this year.
