KATY PERRY SUED BY CHRISTIAN RAPPERS OVER DARK HORSE; LISTEN TO BOTH TRACKS SIDE BY SIDE

Known to be a preacher's daughter, Katy Perry was a Christian singer before she rose to pop superstardom.

Now a group of Christian rappers are claiming that Katy Perry and her team lifted their track "Joyful Noise" for no.1 single "Dark Horse" and they filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming copyright infringement.

In 2008, Grammy Award-winner LeCrae, Flame and John Reilly collaborated on "Joyful Noise," Flames' bouncy ode to Jesus Christ.

The suit claims that Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" left Flame's song "irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic, and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in 'Dark Horse.'"

Aside from Katy Perry, the suit also names Juicy J, Dr. Luke, and Capitol records as well.

A Christian DJ named Cho'zyn Boy made a side-by-side comparison of the tracks. Here’s the audio he created to show Flame how similar "Joyful Noise" and "Dark Horse” are and a breakdown of how he did it.

Listen:

0:00-0:25 Joyful Noise (original song)

0:25-0:40 Dark Horse (original song)

0:40-0:53 Speeds up tempo from 66 BPM to 76 BPM

Last year, Katy Perry faced a similar controversy after fans complained that her track "Roar" was a rip-off of Sara Bareilles' coming out theme, "Brave."
