BILLBOARD'S 10 HOTTEST SONGS - WEEK OF MARCH 21, 2015

"Uptown Funk!" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars achieves its tenth week on top of the chart -- the longest reign so far this year.

Since January 17, "Uptown Funk!" holds its no.1 position. It dethroned new year's first no.1 song, "Blank Space" by Taylo Swift.

"Uptown Funk!" stays at its position, and so do the other songs in the top five, including Ed Sheeran's "Thinkjing Out Loud" at no.2, and Ellie Goulding's FSOG OST "Love Me Like You Do" at no.4.

Another Fifty Shades of Grey OST, The Weeknd' s "Earned it" rises to no.7 from no.9.

These are this week's most popular current songs across all genres, ranked by radio airplay audience impressions and streaming activity data from online music sources. Songs are defined as current if they are newly-released titles, or songs receiving widespread airplay and/or sales activity for the first time.

'UPTOWN FUNK' REMINDS US OF 'ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST'

"Uptown Funk" is the lead single from Mark Ronson's upcoming fourth studio album, with guest vocals by Bruno Mars.

The song was written by Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Mars, Philip Lawrence, Devon Gallaspy and Nicholaus Williams; with Ronson credited for producing it as well.

"Uptown Funk" is doing very well on the charts. In fact, the song is currently Billboard's fifth hottest song.

According to a music expert, the song is widely influenced by funk artists and their songs, including Zapp's "More Bounce To The Ounce", One Way's "Cutie Pie", The Gap Band's "I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance (Oops, Up Side Your Head)", Earth, Wind & Fire's "Getaway", The Sequence's "Funk You Up", The Sugarhill Gang's "Apache", George Kranz's "Trommeltanz (Din Daa Daa)", The Time's "Cool", Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything" and Michael Jackson's "Jam."

But another song we remember the most with "Uptown Funk" is Queen's best selling single and the band's second no.1 song "Another One Bites the Dust."

"Another One Bites the Dust" won an American Music Award for Favorite Rock Single. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

In 2010, "Another One Bites the Dust" was covered by the cast of Glee in the episode, "Funk."

So, what is the two songs' common denominator? Obviously, the answer is "FUNK!"

BILLBOARD'S 10 HOTTEST SONGS - WEEK OF DECEMBER 13, 2014

This week marks Taylor Swift's third week reign with "Blank Space." But the most celebrated notches are no.6 and no.8.

Following her emotional performance on the AMAs, Selena Gomez rises to no.6 with "The Heart Wants What It Wants."

Another song entering the top ten this week is "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, sitting at no.8.

This is Mark Ronson's first time to enter the top ten as an artist. However, it's his third as a producer. (He produced Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" (No. 9, 2007) and Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" (No. 1, six weeks, 2012-13).

These are this week's most popular current songs across all genres, ranked by radio airplay audience impressions and streaming activity data from online music sources. Songs are defined as current if they are newly-released titles, or songs receiving widespread airplay and/or sales activity for the first time.
