WE'RE STILL 'DREAMING OF YOU' SELENA | 20 YEARS LATER

On March 31, 1995, we lost a beautiful soul, the Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, or simply Selena. She was just 23 years old when she was shot and killed by her own assistant/fansclub president Yolanda Saldivar.

Now, 20 years after her death, Selena still steals hearts of many -- still remembered by her fans of all ages.

Although the music that made her popular was in Spanish, Selena didn't grow up speaking the language. She had to learn Spanish.

Selena was not just beauty and charisma, Selena was also recognized by the GRAMMYs in 1993. Her album "Live!" led her to win Best Mexican/American Album at the 36th Grammy Awards, making her the first Tejano artist to do so.

Selena, the Queen of Tejano Music, performed several times at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the Astrodome to sold-out crowds of more than 60,000 people.

Her 1995 crossover album, "Dreaming of You," went to no.1. Selena passed before finishing this album. It was released posthumously on July 18, 1995.

In 1997, her life story was made into a film, "Selena" headlining Jennifer Lopez.

After 20 years of her death, Selena is still missed by her still-mourning family and fans of all ages. We will keep dreaming of you Selena!
