'UPTOWN FUNK' REMINDS US OF 'ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST'

"Uptown Funk" is the lead single from Mark Ronson's upcoming fourth studio album, with guest vocals by Bruno Mars.

The song was written by Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Mars, Philip Lawrence, Devon Gallaspy and Nicholaus Williams; with Ronson credited for producing it as well.

"Uptown Funk" is doing very well on the charts. In fact, the song is currently Billboard's fifth hottest song.

According to a music expert, the song is widely influenced by funk artists and their songs, including Zapp's "More Bounce To The Ounce", One Way's "Cutie Pie", The Gap Band's "I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance (Oops, Up Side Your Head)", Earth, Wind & Fire's "Getaway", The Sequence's "Funk You Up", The Sugarhill Gang's "Apache", George Kranz's "Trommeltanz (Din Daa Daa)", The Time's "Cool", Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything" and Michael Jackson's "Jam."

But another song we remember the most with "Uptown Funk" is Queen's best selling single and the band's second no.1 song "Another One Bites the Dust."

"Another One Bites the Dust" won an American Music Award for Favorite Rock Single. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

In 2010, "Another One Bites the Dust" was covered by the cast of Glee in the episode, "Funk."

So, what is the two songs' common denominator? Obviously, the answer is "FUNK!"
