In December 2013, Beyonce did it. This year Canadian rapper Drake has taken the number one album spot with his surprise album "If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late."

On Friday, Drake surprised fans by releasing an album on iTunes "If You're Reading This It's Too Late."
This week, Drake's surprise album is Billboard's number one album and is expected to pass its 495,000 digital sales.
Music-sharing site Spotify has also reported that "If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late" has set the record for most streams for an album in its debut week in the U.S -- more than 17.3 million times in three days.
"If You're Reading This It's Too Late" is Drake's fourth chart-topper. The surprise album follows his earlier number one albums "Thank Me Later" (2010), "Take Care" (2011) and "Nothing Was the Same" (2013).
Despite early success, Drake's label has not yet announced any plans of producing the album's CD version.
